Longer Evenings
Longer Evenings
The sky wept for long
Bid farewell to the sun
Thunder uproared thousands of promises
There wasn't a place to run.
By the beaten path i froze
My head rested against a wall,
If only there was a hand above,
To caress my crown with love
If only there was a hold to lean,
To devour nerve and escort.
But the streets are barren and stark
Entwined with the mist and scent of the dark.
Drizzle of rain danced along the lanes
Soaked eyelashes at some window pane -
The warm muted lamps up there
The trees swaying high up there
And the rain draining and bleeding through me
Oozing out beads of soul.
I can't see my harbor,
I can't see my oar
I wish you stayed a little longer
To harness and to care more
I wish I wouldn't have gone afar
Lost and trapped in the storm.
